Why morning departures catch drivers off-guard

The trap is simple: you've driven the route before and it took 40 minutes. But that was on a Sunday. A Tuesday morning departure for a 9:00 am flight is a different story. Rush hour from Samut Prakan, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Nakhon Pathom, or central Bangkok toward Suvarnabhumi regularly stacks up on the Bangna-Trat expressway and the Chalerm Mahanakhon extension. Google Maps will warn you — but only if you check it the morning of, not the night before.
